Way behind…

Wow, am I way behind in my posts  or what?  No excuses.  Just been lazy about keeping up with this part of my art business.

I have been having fun working on some new styles of beads and some metal pieces using silver and copper.  Some of my new beads can be seen (or purchased) on Etsy, until they’re sold!

I just finished a new custom welcome page for my Facebook Fan page.  If you haven’t become a fan yet, go to my Facebook page and check it out!

Keep posted for upcoming shows!

For Art’Sake Gallery

My glass and jewelry art can now be seen in the For Art’Sake Gallery in Paola, Kansas.  Such a quaint little town!

If you are in the Kansas City area, enjoy about a 25 minute drive south on Highway 7 out of  Olathe to Paola.  A Holiday Extravaganza is also scheduled there for Saturday, December 4, when I will also be doing some demos of lampwork at the For Art’Sake Gallery.  Looking forward to it!

In the meantime, I’m gearing up for my 5th Annual Open Studio to be held at my studio in Olathe on November 20 and 21.  Check out my Events page for more details.

Hidden Glen Arts Festival

It’s been a great summer and I hate to see it end. That means I’m back in the studio more and busy, busy, busy.

Just want to let everybody know I will  be at the Hidden Glen Arts Festival at Cedar Creek again this year on September 18 and 19.  As usual, I will be in the Olathe Visual Artists tent.  Look for my table there and stop by and say hi if you have a chance!

I will not be at any fall bead shows this year, as sadly my friend Hermina has moved to North Carolina.  However, my studio will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 – 4:00, and other days/evenings by appointment.

Look forward to seeing you!

Thank you customers!

Thank you to all of my customers, both previous and new, who stopped by my booth at the Bead Blast 2010 this past weekend in Overland Park. I appreciated all of the wonderful comments and had a great weekend at the show.

This Saturday, May 8, I will be at the Spring Craft Show in Belton, MO, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It is sponsored by the Belton Parks and Recreation Dept, and will be held at the High Blue Wellness Center, located at 16400 N. Mullen Road.

Later in the month, May 21-23, I will be in Dallas at the Grapevine Convention Center for the Bead Renaissance Show. I will be with Hermina’s Beads & Jewelry.

So, yes, I have more jewelry to make and a lot more beads to make so now back to work!

Think Brights!

I finished this set late last week, but decided to list it as two separate sets on Etsy instead of one large set.  However, the beads are each different, so it would make a nice big set together.  Was just in the mood to do some bright colors and a lot of dots!  Let me know what you think.

Now back to Etsy!

Well, as I mentioned in July, I went back to eBay, for awhile anyway…found out there that I really have to accept a lower price for my beads than I was willing to accept. Then I got busy with shows, life, etc. and didn’t keep up.

So now I’m going back to Etsy for selling my beads, and Artfire for selling some of my jewelry. I’ve learned that consistency is the key, but we’ll see how consistent I can be now. At my age I’ve found it takes a lot of time and effort to train myself to be consistent in anything!

Does anybody else ever wonder like I do why a person can feel so much busier and incapable of completing tasks now than when there were children at home, working full-time, and accomplished more?

Until another day-hopefully before 6 months pass this time…Keep it fun – Debbi

Great to be back on eBay!

I’m finally back to listing beads again on eBay this week!  Yeah!  I also hope to have some other things on Etsy by the end of the weekend.

Productive March for DL Homola

I was very busy in March working on some of the goals I had set for myself and my art business this year.  Happy to say I have achieved a few of them!

First of all, I finally moved Bead-Tique to my new web site, DL Homola Lampwork Glass Art, which you are currently viewing.  I also got my first lampwork demo posted on MySpace.  I am still working on a logo and adding beads, video demos and jewelry as I can.  However, I do have a bead show in early May, so I will be concentrating on beads for that first.

Secondly, I joined a relatively new co-op art gallery in Olathe, called appropriately “The First Art Gallery of Olathe”!  The gallery just opened in the fall, but moved to a new location at the end of February, which needed a little painting and elbow grease to get ready for the opening.  We had our ribbon cutting with the Olathe Chamber of Commerce last week, and I have been spending time working there at least once a week.  If you’re in the area, please come visit us and see all of the beautiful art by local artists!  It’s located at 11951 Strang Line Rd., in Olathe, just behind Target and in the strip mall in front of the AMC 30 Movie Theater.  We are open from 11-8 Wednesday through Saturday, and 2-6 on Sundays.

And thirdly, I have started volunteering for the Overland Park Arboretum a few days a month.  I worked in the gardens for the first time yesterday.  My good friend that got me into making jewelry and ultimately beads got me into this.  I have to say, I’m really going to enjoy it though, since I don’t have a big garden at home anymore!

Oh, and I’ve also been busy supporting my husband and his blues/rock band, Knock Kneed Sally, at his gigs around town.  They’re getting better and better all the time.  Their first CD will be out probably the first of May.  You can hear them here on MySpace

I will try to post a few pics of new lampwork beads I am working on for the show later in the week.

Until next time, enjoy life and be happy!

Bead-Tique.com to dlhomola.com

If you have come to this site by entering my old domain address, Bead-Tique, you are in the right place!  My new domain name is dlhomola.com, and all bead-tique.com visitors will be brought here to my new site.  I’m still working on some things, but for the most part it’s usable and has most things and more than my other site.  You can go directly do Etsy or eBay and my other blog from here.  Let me know if you’re missing something here that was on my old site and I’ll work on changes.  Please leave a comment below or on the contact page.
