Artist D L Homola

When her grandmother, also an artist, bought young Debbi Homola a glass bird at a lampworking booth in Disneyland when she was young, she was hooked. Hooked on creating treasures of her own out of glass someday.

Debbi is now a full-time glass artist and instructor who has been making glass beads since 2003. She enjoys creating something that adds a touch of color, sparkle and joy to other people’s lives. She does this by designing and creating intricate glass beads with everything from polka dots and flower motifs to organics and abstracts.

Debbi has studied with exceptional glass artists such as Tom and Sage Holland, Kristen Frantzen-Orr, Michael Barley and Jennifer Geldard, as well as taking college classes on color design.

Debbi teaches her beadmaking skills in private lessons at her studio and classes at Urban Arts & Crafts in Kansas City. She has been invited and shared the art and history of lampworking to other art groups, such as the Johnson County Senior Arts Council and Harrisonville Fine Arts Club.

Debbi’s work has been featured in The Kansas City Star. She is the current president of Olathe Visual Artists and is a member of The International Society of Glass Beadmakers.
