I was very busy in March working on some of the goals I had set for myself and my art business this year. Happy to say I have achieved a few of them!
First of all, I finally moved Bead-Tique to my new web site, DL Homola Lampwork Glass Art, which you are currently viewing. I also got my first lampwork demo posted on MySpace. I am still working on a logo and adding beads, video demos and jewelry as I can. However, I do have a bead show in early May, so I will be concentrating on beads for that first.
Secondly, I joined a relatively new co-op art gallery in Olathe, called appropriately “The First Art Gallery of Olathe”! The gallery just opened in the fall, but moved to a new location at the end of February, which needed a little painting and elbow grease to get ready for the opening. We had our ribbon cutting with the Olathe Chamber of Commerce last week, and I have been spending time working there at least once a week. If you’re in the area, please come visit us and see all of the beautiful art by local artists! It’s located at 11951 Strang Line Rd., in Olathe, just behind Target and in the strip mall in front of the AMC 30 Movie Theater. We are open from 11-8 Wednesday through Saturday, and 2-6 on Sundays.
And thirdly, I have started volunteering for the Overland Park Arboretum a few days a month. I worked in the gardens for the first time yesterday. My good friend that got me into making jewelry and ultimately beads got me into this. I have to say, I’m really going to enjoy it though, since I don’t have a big garden at home anymore!
Oh, and I’ve also been busy supporting my husband and his blues/rock band, Knock Kneed Sally, at his gigs around town. They’re getting better and better all the time. Their first CD will be out probably the first of May. You can hear them here on MySpace.
I will try to post a few pics of new lampwork beads I am working on for the show later in the week.
Until next time, enjoy life and be happy!
